Are we being forced to learn to respect and give value to our jobs and our money? That is not a bad thing.

Not running the roads means that you may find that being home is nice. Why have a home if you don't enjoy being in it? Instead of speeding, taking a few minutes off he time playing games on the computer to leave for work or the trip a little earlier and enjoying the trip.

I was happy to hear on Fox this morning that less people are using their credit cards which means less impulse buying something that looked fantastic to have today but just sits in a closet being a dust collector. A big bonus is no stress trying to figure out how to pay the bill.

I tried to fix my cooking stove. Had to buy a new one. Interviewed friends to find what bells and whistles now on the ranges they actually use. The only extra I have is the clock/timer. I turn on the stove, cook, and turn it off. Why pay for useless extras?

A too big house or car doesn't make sense to me. Well, if external validation is important to you to say "see what I have" - go for it and pay the price for your ego. I love being in a luxurious home of people who easily can afford it, I guess I am also happy I don't have to pay the bills for it.

Not that hard to turn off lights when you are not in the room. Not hard to turn down the heat when you are not there.

The good out of the poor quality of goods coming from Asia is that the door opened for us to look at ALL the ingredients of the foods we eat no matter where they are made and the quality of the other goods we buy.

Interesting is that when our money is affected we become more interested in who we elect to political offices. That is also good.

I don't think that anyone will get younger when as the years go on. We are becoming aware of saving or making financial plans when we are old. That is also good.

Best of all, we are learning to be responsible, learning how what we do today will affect us tomorrow.

There was an interesting show on CNN where experts reviewed the recession, and they placed part of the blame on Alan Greenspan. They brought up an article he put out in the past, where he was recommending that people get adjustable-rate-mortgages (ARMS), instead of fixed rate mortgages; I remember that article.
They asked him "Why then did you get a 30-year fixed mortgage for yourself, while you were touting ARMS???"
The scary thing is that the experts on the show all agreed that although there are housing slumps that come and go (average every 7 years), the rate of this recession only compares to the great depression in 1929; none other since have been this severe.
This recession was set-up by "the Feds" (big joke) who wanted to buy out huge corporations, as well as Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

Why do I say "big joke?" The Rothchilds, Rockafellers, and the JP Morgan Chase's and others privately own the federal reserve bank.
They only want you to think the federal government owns it.
In the 60's when JFK said he would put an end to the federal reserve bank empire that was ruining our economy, he was shot right after saying that.
Now Ron Paul said he will put an end to it, and his plane almost crashed 2 weeks ago, it was rigged to crash, but God was looking out for him and the crew!

Jane, You are right. I wish to remember the news paper I read in the 80's that wrote about the Trilateral Commission is a private organization, founded in July 1973,by David Rockefeller and the Bilderberg meetings.
Other founding members included Alan Greenspan and Paul Volcker, both eventually heads of the Federal Reserve system. What they wrote about these organizations was scary.

The newspaper came out of Phila. Amazing was that many articles upset me and I wished they were not true about our government BUT it was not long when what they wrote came to be true. And is still coming true. If I remember right, that newspaper was shut down.

I have learned that some welfare systems are in big trouble now and do not have funds to help people to buy heating oil until the new funding comes in Dec or Jan.

I do not understand why it is still allowed for pregnant women from all over the world to come here, have a baby and that baby is an American citizen and immediately get welfare for the baby with the mother still being an illegal.

Plus I learned that there are lotteries in other countries - you win a ticket to the USA, come here broke, and apply for welfare. At least the gvmt in Aug. 1996 changed the law that you have to be here 1 yr. to receive family care and 5 years for Medicade, as I remember it now. Not as soon as you enter the country.

What would it cost to change the law that at least the mother has to be

oops, it the wrong key. The mother has to be legal first for her baby to be so. If this was a law, then it would stop these families coming here and receiving money using this method.

I wish that a reporter would research this for us to have an idea just what these babies cost us - and remember it is for the child's entire life.

For those already here, I would be happier if that child's parents had to get a job.

I am not happy that illegals are given preference over our elderly who have worked and paid taxes all their lives.

It would make me so happy to read blogs from social workers.

More, if you a non-citizen, you are in NJ and not eligible for Medicad, but if you go to the hospital emergency room, you could be eligible for a Special Medicad program to pay for that emergency But our US citizens are not given this opportunity.

The way to bring change is to do something. I would be happy if our citizens received as much consideration as people who are not citizens.

Added, the Special Medicade Program is different from the Charity Care Program. I believe the Charity Program includes citizens. The Special is just for non-citizens. I am sure a reporter could get the facts.

We cannot blame ourselves for inaction to help our country and ourselves if we don't know what to apply action to.

My goal is not to pay more taxes before finding out where the taxes we already pay is being spent.

I started this program/goal by keeping a record of what I spend and finding where I can save. Followed up by releasing all the stuff in the home I no longer need or use. I do not feel I have the right to expect others to do what I have not done.

Can you imagine what the financial structure of this country would be like if the spenders were held accountable? We have the remember that none of our politicians need to struggle financially in their own personal lives. Maybe they have never had to count pennies and do not know what it is like.

Good point!
Their greed is going to lead them to being fully exposed to all of America......soon the truth will come out, but it's too bad that they let the problem get so out of hand. When will they ever be satisfied?
As long as they own our economy, they will be in a position to grease palms so no one can destroy their empire.
Anyone who tries to touch them gets black-balled from media attention (Ron Paul was not invited to any debates as a presidential candadate), or they have an untimely death.

I just enjoy being here on Earth - in the good times and even the not so good times. My path is to help people to understand that it is all right for everything not to be all right - and how to take care of things.Angel, the poodle, and Ruby, the cat are great teachers, as you can see from the picture. After all, they both accept humans, just as we are!
