You all see that Pedro Zapeta, illegal from Guatemala, worked 11 years washing dishes. Saved money. Tried to take $59K in a duffel bag out of the country back home. He never learned English. He did not know he had to declare anything over $10K. For two years he is tied up. Govt has his money. He has nothing. Is given permission to make enough money washing dishes to get a ticket out by the first of the year. Go back home. To Guatemala. No money. BTW the IRS wants theirs. He never paid taxes on it.

His lawyers..pro bono. say " WHEN YOU ARE POOR, UNEDUCATED, AND ILLEGAL, YOUR AVENUES ARE CUT..."

========

Hmmm.....yeah that word illegal stands out there. And when you have chosen not to learn English(UNEDUCATED  ) sticks out there.

Bleeding hearts. Crying in beer. I feel for you but I can't reach you. All you illegals try to learn enough English to read this.

Maybe then you will GET IT. It is not nice to be ILLEGAL and not adopt ENGLISH as a language written and spoken. You will get bitten in the arse if you do not listen.

I wouldn't be so quick to judge, I can assure you that out of the last 5 food places you've eaten at, 4 of your meals have been prepared by an immigrant. You may sit and wonder how it's possible that the Dollar Menu remains at a dollar, well it's all that low cost labor. Have you ever considered what the inflation rate would be if the prices of all goods and services were to increase because of the $12.00/hr rate they would be forced to pay that recent college grad who seems ready to conquer the world? Very unlikely!
Undocumented immigrants do contribute to our economy. If you're not convinced, consider a study done by the State of Texas Comptroller(http://www.window.state.tx.us/specialrpt/un
documented/undocumented.pdf) in which "the absence of the estimated 1.4 million undocumented immigrants in Texas in fiscal 2005 would have been a loss to our Gross State Product of $17.7 billion. Also, the Comptroller's office estimates thate the state revenues collected from undocumented immigrants exceed what the state spent on services, with the difference being $424.7 million." This confirms that undocumented immigrants do indeed pay their way through our society.
In regard to the English commentary, I wouldn't find it easy learning the language either, especially if I were working two jobs, raising a family, and doing my best to keep a low profile.

You are speaking of one place. Now times that into the many as they do call a food chain restraunt. Undocumented immigrants is a felony in this country. The employers that give them work and knowing commiting a felony themselfs. And there is another question. How are their taxes being pay. The young kids in this country (USA) can't find jobs for the Summer when school gets out due too the fact. The jobs are fill by Illegal immigrates.

Dollar in the first place is just paper. It is not worth the sweat on your forehead. Now what gives it the value is Gold in the US Gold Depositorty in Fort Knox. The dollar bill is only a Federal Tender Note. Next time pull one out of your wallet and look it over.

Have you seen what they do on paydays. They goto a checkcashing place and wire money back to their home country. There was this guy that told all mexicans to goto USA. FInd work there. Send to someone in your family that is back in mexico. Do you know who that guy is?

I hate to rain on your Sunday picnic. But the current wage now for one in order to support. Say like a single guy. unless they have some large amount of money somewhere bury in a tin can. You have to earn at least not less then $16.00 dollars an hour. No less.

The Word ( CONTROLLERS OFFICE ) Not comptroller. Which level of government are you talking about?

Undocumented immigrate wouldn't pay taxes in the first place. The fact is that their here illegal. Also it would mean fear of being charge for Tax invasion ( Back Taxes owe ). The monies that you talk about are channel thru fraulen systems in for the

Living Resident
You are well versed.
You write as maybe one of the staff down there in the Comptroller's Office.
Oh, I know we have alot of libereals here in Texas.
I'll bet you are Latino/Hispanic/Chicano yourself.
Or have kids married into the Chicancos.
Or maybe you are one our bleeding-heart Christian leftists (I'm a Christian Rightest), who is a college professor.
Or maybe you are one of the real betrayers, a descendent of one whose grand-parents or great-grandparents who never left back in the 1800's when all the crap hit the fan, and you are a Mexican-American who now is going over to the illegal enemy just because they are 'blood'.
Am I close, somewhere in there?
The key word here is LEGAL. Don't you all GET it?
Your economics lesson does not take away from that fact. How many other ways do you folks think laws should be broken and JUSTIFIED?
You have seen what NO LAW means in Mexico. There IS no country anymore. It's a band of thugs and govt crooks, and drug runners. No wonder so many wanted to leave.
We need to put a little 'device' down there to neuter them.

Good idea BDAB - have them spayed and neutered & teach them that water is for bathing, as well as swimming across !

Let them know that our prisons are full. When we need to restock them, we'll send for them.

I do understand you point of view, however think about those late night shifts at such fast food chains. Would you allow your child to be at work until 2 or 3 in the morning? I don't think so. Let's face it, these people are taking up jobs that other people just won't do. When was the last time you skimmed through the local newspaper and decided YOU were going to pick up a job mowing grass off the highways? Or that you felt it was good enough to go paint some houses, or put a frame for a new home? I highly doubt that.
If you feel immigrants were taking away these summertime jobs from highschool kids, I would like to see you send out your son or daughter to work on a construction site in the middle of the day off of LBJ! Or how about cleaning office buildings from 5 to 12 in the morning.
In regard to paying taxes, The State of Texas is one of few states in this nation which doesn’t charge an income tax. Thus most if not all of it’s tax revenue comes from other sources such as what you pay at the pump when you fill up on gasoline (yes state tax included), sales tax, property tax (included in rent), water tax, electricity tax, the taxing is endless. The very same taxes you and I pay.
Honestly, I know where the value of money comes from. I've been educated in economics and finance, thus it's not necessary to lecture me on these topics. You've got to understand that a major law which businesses follow is, low cost of production. In order for any business to run successfully with profits, the revenue it gets from it’s sales must always be higher than the cost of it’s resources

IrvingResident

Let’s simplify this with the cost of a burger. A burger costs, lets say 60 cents, plus the amount it costs a worker to put this burger together, let’s say (40 burgers in an hour, at a $7 rate per hour: about 18 cents labor cost per burger). Thus .60 plus .18 + .0825 (sales tax) = 84 cents per burger. Sold at a total price of $1.08. That’s a profit of 24 cents for the fast food chain. Now lets consider that same burger but paying the same worker at a 12-dollar rate. Now the cost of the burger is .60 + .30 + .082 = .98 cents per burger. The profits have shrunk from 24 cents to 10 cents. Which would mean a price increase in order to pay for other costs such as electricity gas, etc.. Now imagine this scenario on a grander scale. Any economists would agree that the inflation rate would rise considerably. Especially taking into consideration the wide variety of industries and type of work these immigrants do. In your comment you mentioned the value of the dollar, well usually the higher CPI (Consumer Price Index – cost of living index) and higher interests rates bring more printing of this tender to compensate for the higher costs. Do you know what this does to your dollar bill? It decreases its value! That’s right, higher interest rates bring more printing of money, which results in lower dollar value. Think about that for a minute.
Don’t get me wrong, I agree that those who are undocumented should search a legal path. However, let’s be honest that process is not as easy as you may think. The best and only alternative, if we as a nation wish to maintain our stability and econom

IrvingResident

economic power, is to harvest this low cost labor and grant those hardworking people legal status to work in this country. There is no other reasonable alternative.
Have you ever traveled to Mexico? The reason these people send back money is because of the poor living conditions in that country, as well as any other country for that matter. Wouldn’t this mean that Mexicans value family above anything else? Why else would you risk going to another nation with nothing but the clothes on your back in order to work. Talk about a commute! I’m sure you may not understand this value of family. Because being in their shoes, I honestly would do the same.
BTW: the definition of a comptroller is someone who maintains and audits business accounts. Thus the State of Texas Comptroller is the person in charge of doing this very same thing for the State of Texas. Thus there is no need to correct myself. I would suggest doing some homework.

BADHick: You, sir, are a @#!$ bag. You prove it to everyone, how insensitive and inhumane you are...how do you live with yourself or sleep at night?
First of all, you prove the point that most immigrants, after working for sometime, go back. This is a telling stat.
Secondly, the immigrant you talked about worked hard for his money. He did not steal, he did not rob anyone. Given the current immigration law, he had no chance of paying taxes even if he wanted to. He did the job that your "white azzz" didnot want to do? Is that how you reward the person? Disgrace to you and your kind of people, sir!
Now fill your bath tub with water, put your wife's hair curling machine in it hooked to a socket and swim in it. You will love it!

My views and OPINIONS are simple on this…..I have always embraced any race in this country, however if you ARE an ILLEGAL / UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANT you DESERVE to be deported under any condition! And shame on the housing industry for leasing to ILLEGALS. Kudos to the immigrants that followed procedure and came into this country legally! What is our government doing to deport illegals? Companies will hire them no questions asked because they want the job done as CHEAP as possible and illegal’s / undocumented immigrants are willing to work dirt CHEAP in order to send money home to their families. Kudos to our police force that will enforce deporting illegals!

Working on the highway. Painting houses. Mowing lawns. Working in grocery stores. Picking cotton. Pulling corn. Working construction. Don't be so condenscending.
I did ALL of the above before I was out of high school, and during college.
I was born in the Depression. Until 1940 we lived in a two room unsealed share-croper house. We had no running water and indoor toilet until 1957. We had no insurance. Mother broke her legs in the cow-pen. They grew back stiff in the knees. We could not go get that surgery at Parkland Hospital...free.
We did not even have transportation! We went to town with mule and wagon on Saturday.
So, you tell ME how bad it is to work?
Give me a break. And, let me tell you Mr. Educated. I have a Masters in Industrial Mangagement and a B.S. in Accounting.
So I have told you where I came from. You tell me where YOU came from.

In response to your commentaries, don’t get deflected off the discussion, the way I see it, you’re becoming more concerned with my background than the topic itself. Why is it you wish to speculate on the nature of my lineage, education, profession, and social status? I haven’t asked YOU such questions regarding your personal background? Why, because such information is irrelevant to the discussion itself?

The point is I am presenting facts. You are presenting personal opinions with no credible sources. SO, before you continue making comments that would lead people to believe you are racist (unless you prefer the label) I suggest you support your statements with credible information. If you bring forth good enough information, then maybe, just maybe I would consider changing my stance on this issue. Stop being ignorant, and consider being open-minded. Regards. - I.R.

We have some REAL Americans on Fox Blog.
I'm actually happy that you crying (tenderhearted?-Liberals,( who care little for what MOST Americans want and stand for
can get in this marble game and tell us what is on your heart.
And Gurk, watch your temper and your language now. It's getting away from you. And you are beginning to show your true colors. Solve everything with a little....what?....'beat-down'? Is that what you call it Gurk? Yeah, a little 'beat down' for whitey.
Gurk, I have the name of a good anger management counselor. Would you like it? But, I don't think he does pro-bono. Would that matter?
Boy this is fun!!!

It doesn't matter what jobs people take or what they contribute to the economy. It's plain and simple: IF YOUR IN THIS COUNTRY ILLEGALLY, IT'S AGAINST THE LAW! YOUR SENTENCE IS TO BE DEPORTED BACK TO YOUR HOME COUNTRY! All the other issues don't matter. THE LAW IS THE LAW! I don't understand why this is so hard to understand. It's simple common sense!
