This is more of a response to Bubba since comments were disabled.

I get what you are saying about Conservative=Republican and Democrat=Liberal.  So what about the rest of us that can't identify with either party.  There are a lot of things I'm conservative about, and there are a lot of things that I am liberal about.  So where does that leave people like me in this system that pretty much requires us to identify with one label.

If I decide to vote democrat, does that make me a raging liberal because I'll still disagree with 50% of what their policies?  If I decide to vote Republican, does that make me a raging conservative because I'll still disagree with 50% of their policies?

Should people like me then just not vote since their is no viable option for us?

The two party system that we have is severely broken and disenfranchises a large portion of the population because we are not "just Republican" or "just Democrat".

Independence is a beautiful thing.

The problem is that when you vote Democrat, you are empowering the far left that controls the party. The moderate to conservative candidates have no power, they are only there to bring in independent/moderate voters so that the radical left agenda can be pursued. If a conservative/moderate Democrat gets elected, they have to obey the party line, if they want to sit on committees.

The far left votes similar to socialist/communist. Not much difference in their voting record. Not healthy for our country.

You have radical right-wingers in the Republican Party, but the balance of power is conservative to moderate. Usually when you vote Republican, you get less taxes, less government, and strong National Security.

Why is Bubba's posting de-activated for comments? Perhaps KTVI is exercising censorship! All voices and opinions need to be heard.

Bubba chooses to disable his own comments so that he doesn't have read the responses. Bubba also chooses not to hear others comment on what he says. Independence is a good thing and so middle of the road.

Baazill What’s the matter with you don’t you know you are either a Conservative Democrat or a Liberal Republican. Come on be one of the mindless sheep and follow your party. Hope you know I am being sarcastic.

Not being sarcastic there are independents, libertarians, the green party and several others. But these other parties just don’t get the attention or respect like the D’s and R’s. Then there is the misconception of the other parties. For example Libertarians actually means free from government not more government. Independents actually like issues from both the D’s and R’s. The green is not just about the environment but citizen equality that benefits all not just a few. These candidates are on the ballot just not in the media.

Ross Perot gave a gallant effort but it costs lots of money to run for office. But again the main focus was on the D and R candidates. But some critics say when an independent runs for office it takes votes away form one party or the other. Just depends who is crying the most.

GET OUT AND VOTE

Hey snoopy, I hope you saw my appology on the one about the pregnant man. I was trying to joke back but I didn't do it so well. I didn't mean to offend you.

If you are sick of the labels that means you are not happy being a LIBERAL. Most do nothing but complain about how bad everything is and bash Bush. Depression is a large problem with Liberals. So the Free healthcare may get you the help Liberals so badly need. Good Luck. VOTE REPUBLICAN

I do not want to be labeled either way. I can think for myself quite well thank you very much.
I do not need either party telling me how to think. Only followers need that.

Who am I? I am me because I am me. What should I do today? Just can't decide.

Baileygirlsmom yes I did thanks.

Hey Mechany hows the vacation. I love and encourage independent thinking.

I am a very independent thinker, and yet I vote Republican. The Republican party is closer to what I believe in. If another party embraced my ideology, then I would vote for that party. I call myself a Conservative and embrace the ideology, and have been a Conservative for over 25 years. It does not matter if conservatism is popular or not, I stick with my convictions.

Liberals do not like labels, because the liberal label is not popular or well received by the public. Therefore they call themselves "progressives" moderates etc. The media uses this tactic when addressing the candidates. They never call the Democratic candidate a liberal, they are moderates, even though their voting record/policies are left-wing. This is the game being played.

I would be perfectly happy calling myself a Republican if they would just move towards a few things.

1) Reworking trade agreements.

2) Leaving abortion alone.

3) Eliminating the FCC.

Obviously leaving abortion alone is not an option. I think NAFTA is bad, but concede I might be wrong about that. I think our trade agreements with countries like China need to be seriously evaluated. We are in a hole there though since China holds the notes on so much of our debt. And lord knows the "moral majority" won't eliminate the FCC.

But you cant run away from a party just because they don't believe exactly as you do.
It's plain to me that no party will please everyone. There is no such thing as an independent, in the end you will vote dem or rep or waste your vote.
Face it, you have to vote for the man who will do the best for OUR country, not YOUR country.
If you want a liar and a racist, vote obama
If you want a shady character who is still being investigated, vote clinton
If you want a proven patriot who will protect our country from our enemys and is not racist, or shady, then you must vote McCain!

Don't listen to the media, it's a liberal run organization who doesn't have our interest at heart!

To Bazill Well I do not drink alcohol or smoke anymore. Believe it or not I am a much happier person, but probably, I am even more boring. I have no friends, just a few business associates and they know all I care about is my family. It takes my wife of almost 30 years to get me to go around people. A lot of people will look at this and say I missed out on life not to have friends. I feel I have had the best life in the world and for me would have it no other way. I will continue here though till November. This is fun..............

I think that the parties need to be abolished. They are suspose to be the voice of the people not their party.

All the politician care about is themselfs, and lining their own pockets. Sorry I dont trust anyone who can give themselfs a pay increase just because, and has free medical for life, and get more time off than any other profession out there.

I also think there need to be term limits that would solve a lot of the problems.

cutter i agree with you and bubba and jimbobbob
dem and rep are labels , its what is at the heart of the party system that drives the candidates, the conservative republican party are not as lured by deceit as are the liberal democtates or republicans who stray to the left. conservatism as i see it strays neither to the far right or the left, and has ideals that apply to all americans, and makes for a healty america. liberalism however eliminates a high number of americans and turns more toward the socialism humanitarian programs that stifle the laws of the land and strive to instead of lifting all up, resort to bringing all down to the level so we are better controlled in our thinking, they want us all in a postiion to absolutly need a liberal country to survive. oops does that sound like communism??

At one time we were all Liberal and Conservative it began with these word`s{We The People}After we elected the first Socialist President Franklin.D.Roosevelt,then Harry.S. Truman, that action change the Media and Educational System. We have been on a crooked winding Road ever since. Think goodness we are still strong, but I am getting weaker.Socialism=A theory by which the mean`s of production and distribution are owned by society rather than by Individual`s. Society= The wealthy, dominnant class.

Custody case is over. Let me self get screwed over by the lawyers so the kids have to stay with her for now. With any luck, I can get them before they start high school so I can get them back on track and not watch them become a statistic.
