Another thing that irratates me is when I'm in traffic because a lane is closed and there are signs posted well in advance to merge out of that lane, and I've already merged out in plenty time and I've been sitting patiently to get through that area(N.bound 71HWY and Blue Ridge Blvd)people are trying to force their way in at the very last moment, and then not just force their way in the right lane no they're not satisfied with just that they have to get right in the left lane. And if you don't let them in they get mad at you and flip you off. Well they can flip me off all they want because I try my best not to let any of the jerks(I'm being nice)in.

I love it! That is so funny. My husband and I feel the exact same way. Don't you just want to hold up a sign that says "you should have thought about that earlier before the 50th sign that says lane ends!"

LOL...so true, people do it all the time..never could understand it. Or why people blow around you just to get caught up at the next traffic light.

I think a lot of the problems on the road today is the lack of drivers education in our schools and the rest is the drivers who can't read.

MY solustion, I sit in the lane that is closing and next to the eighteen wheeler that is always there. I keep pace with him, and at the very end he will let me in, but I keep everyone else from blowing by and slowing everyone down everyone else that did get over earlier.

The best thing to do is drive your car like always and DO NOT let them bother you. If they feel they need to cut to the front of the line and not wait so be it. There day will come!. One day a traffic cop will be sitting there issuing tickets for just that reason. I am a over the road truck driver and I see it everyday everywhere and I used to get so angry it was just a waste of my time and to top it off, it was ruining my morning. From now on just wave and remember, you are the one doing the correct thing and they are wrong, and as they say "every dog has there day". Just try and keep a smile on your face and enjoy every precious moment that you have on this earth.

The problem with blocking the ending lane is that if there is an emergency situation then no emergency vehicles can get thru

I believe that 18 wheelers should be allowed to crush cars and pickups that won't allow them to merge in a timely fashion. Seen more than one rig forced to stop dead due to rude auto-ists.

I know it's definately too much to ask, but if everyone actually did start to get over when they saw the 1ST sign that said the lane was ending, traffic would actually flow much, much, much smoother...At least that's what all the civil engineering models say! :)

I simply merge, then about halfway between the first warning and the merge point, I will put my vehicle in between lanes, then other follow. That way, the people passing will have to go completely around (most won't). I'm all for taking turns letting people in, but if they've driven to the end of the 'merging' zone, I'll be d***ed if I let them in. They're more than welcome to hit any part of my vehicle!

The drivers are getting there licenses from cereal boxes, by mailing in two proof of purchases in a SASE. There are really to many cars on the road and not enough skilled drivers in them. The freeways have become NASCAR tracks, and the streets have become dragstrips. What next? People ought take some time to learn the drive, maybe then they'll appreciate the rules of the road a little more.

Missy9019-
I do the same thing and it seems that most people appreciate it, BUT I was coming back from a Chiefs game one afternoon and crossing the river on 435 before they reopened it. I'd driven about a 1/2 mile straddling the lane and then, when I was ready to get back in my lane...someone was using the little space I'd left to push ahead in HIS lane...I only had about 6" between his truck and mine...what the he#$!!!!

I agree we would not have all the trouble if they would put up concrete dividers after the second notice, then they other lane who had notices would either have to stop and wait..I can not understand why people do not follow rules because the sign says do not pass..well if they put cameras there in work site maybe the cities can stop these people by heavy fines. One more thing I hate and is getting worse is drivers in the left hand lane block cars from passing because they keep even with the car in the right hand lane..The problem is we do not force these laws and the cities could make it more easier to drive in traffic..

Psychodog..
Yeah you'd think people would get the hint! They really should patrol those situations more. Hell, I'll do it for free in my off time! It'd be worth it to hand that person a ticket!
