I had a hard time sleeping last night. Just before I went to bed a good friend of ours (the blog family), Keller, posted a post offering to give away most of his possessions. I’m not ashamed to tell people that I wept.
Keller is one of the best men I’ve had the honor of ever communicating with. He’s a home grown country boy, respectful of others, a veteran, and former police officer. Keller’s had a rough year, but never once has he ever come here asking for our help. Instead, during a time of trial, he comes here offering something to someone else.
This is how Jesus taught us to live.
There are a lot of people in dire straits and every once in a while one of them wanders into the forum asking for money. Instead of money, they should be asking for prayers. Prayer is far more powerful and will solve many more problems than money ever can.
I won’t say I can’t do much for Keller. In the physical sense, I can’t do anything, but I can offer a prayer. A prayer is all anyone ever needs.
Dear God,
Please wrap your loving arms around our friend Keller in this time of turbulence and change. Encompass him in your sweet gentle compassion. I pray you provide the means for Keller to find happiness and joy; especially at this special time of year.
In Jesus name I pray,
Amen
Keller,
The Bible says God’s strength is made perfect in our weakness. I know you’re feeling like that old adage “God will never put more on you than you can take” isn’t true, but it is.
When you are feeling your weakest, your most beaten and most downhearted, your bond with God is stronger than ever. This is the time to lay it all on God’s alter and know God will not disappoint you.
You’re in my heart and prayers.
Wayne
I’d ask that everyone send out a special prayer for my good buddy Keller tonight.
To what depth is the hate of a human who distains peace?
War mongers label peacemakers as traitors or evil destroyers of democracy, but we all know victory in any war is defined by peace.
Some people even twist aspirations for peace into being a scheme to undermine the security of our country, but people who know God, know the origin of the peace movement began in biblical days through the words of God.
Personally, my peace movement began when I read the Bible and saw what God had to say on the subject.
There are 40 or more passages in the Bible which promote peace (all types of peace) compared to 2 which allude to war.
Proverbs 3:29 tells us not to devise harm against our neighbors. In Proverbs 6:19 God reveals His disapproval of men who sow discord and stir up trouble.
When discussing sins which can destroy a man’s relationship with God, it is written, “Their thoughts run to evil and make haste to shed innocent blood.” Isaiah 59:7
Romans 12:18 teaches us that we are to seek and live in peace with all people. We’re told to love God and our neighbors and pray for our enemies. God says nothing about going to war with our enemies, but to pray for them.
Perhaps the most resounding testament to the Christian ideology of peace comes in Mathew. “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God” (Mathew 5:9)
I could go on and on, but I think most people get the picture. The Bible clearly states over and over and over again God wants peace between His children and for that reason, I will always walk on the side which pursues peace over war.
Ya'll have a peaceful day!
