what would be wrong with the recommendation here of simply using barbituates?

we hear of people killing themselves all the time by supposedly taking an overdose of sleeping pills.

Is there any pain to go this way?

Is there pain in being shot in the heart or head?

Maybe, of course for a second, but it does not linger on as this case where they relate that the first med  does not work, and thus there is pain from the remainder of the procedure.

any thoughts on this?

Its cruel and unusual punishment regardless. Who's to say the first one worked 100% anyways? Bottomline, death is cruel whether its by some thug or by the law. If you swear in on the bible, you should know that you cannot judge fate of another human when its regarding living or dying.

Pulling an electric chair switch or lethal injection its the same thing. Its killing.

How can it be cruel and unusual punishment when death eventually comes to us all. Would a forgiving, just, and loving God allow us to die if it were so bad? Want to talk about cruel and unusual punishment, what about the bible’s description of hell? What about the bible’s (Old Testament) description of God destroying entire cities by fire and water. You would think in those cities and among those people condemned to death for their evil ways there were some that were innocent. How tolerant and forgiving is that?

I have never been the victim of a violent crime, nor has my family or friends. So I am not really qualified to discern and give a viewpoint this topic.

I wonder if the death penalty is a deterrent for those thinking about committing a serious crime. I would rather do preventive measures. I remember reading where a thief in Italy would have a finger cut off when he was caught. There is no data if that was a deterrent. Bet it was.

I do resent the money we spend keeping people in jails. TV, gyms, good food, no taxes. And meanwhile, even tho we are out - we are allowing freedoms to be taken away from us.

I could not understand the expense incurred with putting a human down. Thank goodness vets don't charge that and they deal with those who have never committed a crime, just loved the humans they lived with - 60.00.

Having a tumor removed from a dog - 40.00. Darn vet refused to even think of doing mine if I ever got one.

Let's see, John. Being killed quickly by a bullet; seeing the elderly slowly dying in cold houses because they can't afford heating oil - what crime did they commit?

Gee, the greedy get away with murder!

I've been here and there, and have seen this and that; have met these and them; and have done most things from there to here. It all accounts to not too much.
