What's in a hug?   Apparently two days of detention if you go to school in Mascoutah, IL.     There is a policy against public displays of affection at school.    Recently, one girl was punished with two days detention for putting her arm around a friend.

Do you think this is going too far?   Or is it not enough to teach proper boundaries to kids?    Seems like when a day is going downhill, it's those little hugs from friends that can really keep you going.    What's your opinion?

It depends if it is going too far.

One has to look at the reason for the rule in the first place.
Unfortunately we all suffer because a few in society always range over the margin of good sense.
Thus, rules, which seem far-fetched then in a situation of 'normality'.
So, who should we punish?
If there are laws we should obey them.
If we do not like them we should strive to change them.
If there are rules all of the people are a subject to the rules need to be educated on just what the rules mean and what they don't mean.
Perhaps this is where this feel down from the beginning.
But, in the case cited, do we know ALL the circumsatnces? And ALL the discussion surrounding it?
Usually there are two sides to every story.
Is that not what we hear?

I'm a vegetarian, and love to travel, golf, pracitce yoga, ride horses, drink good wine, and listen to music. My iPod is tethered to me almost permanently! I'm also a Star Wars fanatic. I have two dogs and a cat... and wish I had more! My favorite FOX show is "24". Jack Bauer can come to my rescue anytime! But I do have a super husband who always comes to my rescue! We have a baby boy who is the center of our life!
