An urban coyote, captured downtown following an
hour long foot chase in downtown Detroit, has been granted a stay of
execution. Soon, the female predator will be heading for the
country.

Thanks to all the Fox 2 viewers and MyFoxDetroit.com users who answered our cyber poll question... "Should the city of Detroit euthanize the coyote?"

95% voted NO!  250 have commented on blogs.  Dozens of you have e-mailed or called.

We relayed your sentiment to city officials, and the people whose held the fate of the coyote in their hands, and we believe your efforts helped to turn the tide, and save the coyote.

THANKS TO EVERYONE -- AND POWER TO THE PEOPLE.

Thank you Fox 2 for providing the forum from which we could make our voices heard (through the written word!)- and heard they were . . . our call 'for' the wild saved the wild. I felt good all day knowing that a group of like minded, compassionate individuals came together, taking time out of their busy days, to MADE A DIFFERENCE for the betterment of the soul of our city! Detroit needs some compassion pumping thru her veins. Let's all keep it up and keep an eye on what's going on in our great city! Yes, GREAT . . . we once were and GREAT we can be again!

I still find it a crime and a shame that people can put so much effort in saving a coyote, but have commented very little about a three year old beaten in a foster care home.

No, they weren't concerned about that. They were too busy making death threats to me and calling me names.

Yeah, we really need to re-evaluate our priorities.

A coyote is not going to save Detroit. Residents are and not those people who live outside of Detroit and just pay taxes on properties in Detroit for write offs.

That's just my $.02 on the subject.

Good Morning. You seem to be the only person I can get a responce from..lol Hate to Bother you, But we all worked so hard saving the cyote, I want more good to come from Us, and the city. The dog that was stole at gun point from that 14 year old, allready shaken form Katrina. Very Sad, I left a message with the problem solvers asking if they could aide us in getting this family a new puppy, Maybe a local shelter would be kind enough to let him come in a pic one out for free, Y because its the right thing to do. This family has been through enough, I want to show them the city they came to isnt all bad, and people DO care. So what do you think? Can the people make a difrence once again? I sure hope so. Thanks for reading, and Lets get this boy a PUPPY..Sincerly Luvs

Hi Dennis! This has nothing to do with this article - I just wanted to say "hi". My name is Kristina Tatta and many years ago we worked on the Surge Cola campaign together. Me and my girlfriends had a blast working for you! In fact, I don't live in Detroit anymore, I live in LA but my friend Angie, who still lives in Detroit, is the one who found this blog. We will never forget the hilarious comment you made when we were at that nasty school on the Eastside of Detroit and you said it makes Kentucky look like Honolulu! Hilarious! If you'd like to say "hi" back you can find me on Myspace under Kristina Tatta. Or my e-mail address is kristinat1@yahoo.com.
