This may seem like a small beef to some, but for me, it is getting ridiculous!! The last 5 or 6 times that I have ordered food from a drive-thru restaurant, (McDonald's is the biggest culprit) I have gotten home, only to find either the wrong item/s, or missing items. I am so sick of this! I go through the drive-thru mainly because most of the time I have my 3 yr old granddaughter in the car with me. Any parent/grandparent knows how much of a hassle it is, to get a child in and out of a car seat to go inside a place for just a few minutes. (I save that task for gas stations, and places that don't offer drive-thru service). That being the case, I should not have to go through every bag and box, EVERY time I order food. That should be THEIR job!!! THE FOOD SHOULD BE IN THERE!

Tonight, it was KFC on Gratiot, North of 16 mile. I had to give my order THREE TIMES, because she didn't seem to get it the first two! It wasn't even a complicated order. It was 2 breasts, mashed potatoes, a drink, and a biscuit---How HARD is that?? After giving the order 3 times, she told me to pull ahead for the total. I did, and she ran back ond forth (somewhere) for about 2 minutes. she finally gave me "my" order, and then she handed me the drink which was so full, that a lot of it spilled all over me and my car. I let her know, and she said, "Oh, you need a napkin?". I said, "Uh... guess not". I tried to check the bag, but it looked pretty full, so I didn't open the actual box with the meal in it. By the time I got it to my dad, (who had just gotten out of the hospital today, and had a "taste" for KFC--God bless him) I realized NO MASHED POTATOES!! I was livid, and he was SO disappointed. (he's 71) Anyway, I went to the website and filled out the survey they had, and was informed that someone would "contact me soon". I will be waiting. I did the same thing after my 5th experience like that at McDonalds. They offered me a free meal (whoopie!) I told her rather than a free meal, how about just checking the orders more accurately, and double checking that they are completed correctly. She said they would do that, but who knows if they will or not?

Anyway, thanks for letting me get that out!!

Take care all, and feel free to share your drive-thru horror stories, lol!

Hello mrshubbyd; I hate it when they have a only one window where one would pay for their order, then while I am trying to put the change away, the person is saying over and over again, "Here's your food, sir". Often times, like the other night at the Burger King on 23 Mile, We had three regular orders of fries and the holder on all of them was barely more than half-full. Here's a classic; I usually order for three and I am noticeably with my fiance or alone and they ask "Do you need a cup holder?". But overall, most of the restaurants strive for decent treatment at the drive-throughs-It's just when people use their own self-control and will instead of the company guidelines to properly service a customer.

You hit the nail on the head Car. I think I was so mad about tonight, that I had forgotten about some of that other stuff! Yes, putting the change away is definitely up there, lol! I think the thing about the fries makes me upset as well. I think it is because they always show the picture of it, where all of these fresh, crispy, hot fries, are spilling out all over the place, and in reality, you get about half the box, but it looks like more at first because they pack it so lightly. Oh well, I guess it could be worse, lol! Take care my friend, and I am so happy to hear that your move was a successful one! Wishing you and Regina much happiness!

Mrs,

I have found it really matters which restaurant you go to. The McDonalds by my house Michigan and Merriman is terrible they even recook there hash browns. Now if I go to the McDonalds on Ford rd. by Wildwood I never have a problem. That is the only fast food joint that hasn't made a mistake on my order. It's like Joe Pesci said they #@%# you at the drive thru

Many times as mrshubbyd stated, emailing the corporate offices of restaurants and other businesses will get action-Maybe just a free meal or just to let them know about a certain location that dosen't do their job correctly. I had similar complaints against Rite-Aid-Regina went there quite often and one of the female employees claimed she was "a homeless person hanging around the store too much". I immediately emailed their corporate HQ and we received calls from both the Regional and store mangaers expressing sincerest apologies-With promises to correct the situation. On the local level, it is rare that inept employees are reprimanded-But if you go directly to the top, you get much better results. I don't tolerate these types of treatment from anyone in the business sector if it continues to happen on almost a daily basis-It is my money being spent to pay their wages and I want the same service they would expect when they go into any particualr business establishment.

Funny thing though-The Rite-Aid employee that used to work at the Mt. Clemens location is ironically now working at our local Rite-Aid in Anchor Bay area-Hopefully she won't make the same mistake twice and Regina is not one to address a past issue.

Good Morning All!!!!! Great post here!! I have a food allergy to cheese as we as my daughter, whenever we go to whereever I ALWAYS SAY NO CHEESE!!!! 9 out of 10 times there is cheese on that!!!!! I have gotten into the habit now of stopping my car at the end of the drive thru lane and walking back in and causing a back up!!!! what really irks me is taht they give you a dirty look if you try and check the bag at the window before leaving, they always look at you like 'come on MOVE'! and they never give you enough time between the two windows to put away your money!!! I used to work at Mcdonalds back in the high school years when we as teenagers were happy to have a job and were couteous, and treated everyone nicely, nowadays you barely get a smile!!!! its like they think 'yeah so what'like I'am cutting into their social time instead of you should be happy i'am a customer so you have a JOB!!!!!

You guys are awesome!

Tall, you are so right that it depends on WHICH one you go to. I used to live in St. Clair Shores, and the one on 9 mile/Greater Mack ALWAYS had the order HOT, READY, and RIGHT!!

Thank you Rita, I will post a blog about my UN-trip to CA, so stay tuned, lol! As for Micky D's, I HAVE tried to let it pass, but when it happens EVERY time, it just makes you MAD! (btw, the offending one is on Mound/12mile). And you are correct when you say they give you a dirty look for checking the bag!

Car, my buddy, you are absolutely on the mark when you say going to the top will usually get results. it always has for me. (I can't believe you got the SAME woman at your new Rite-Aid location! If it wasn't for BAD luck, we wouldn't have ANY, lol!)

And Momandlovingit, your post cracked me up, because every word is so true!! Teenagers nowadays do not even know the meaning of the word courtesy, and SERVICE, FUGGEDABOUTITT!!
I love the idea of getting out of the car to walk back in. That is PRICELESS!!

I guess I had better mention that there ARE good places out there too! The BK on Mound S/12mile usually is really quick, and really ACCURATE! So is the new BK that they just rebuilt on 12mile, just west of Dequindre. Nice, nice crew members at both!

Thank you all for your wonderful stories, they really brightened my day!

Take care my friends!

I will always stop my car and check my order no matter how much food is ordered, I could careless what those kids think or say. They can give me a dirty look if they want, I will just stare right back at them. I am paying for a service and will NOT move my vehicle until the service is complete to my satisfaction.

The same with the drive-thru's that have 2 windows, when they give me my change, my car is in park and I will keep it there until I put my change in my pocket.

I think for me, it's not so much that I'm worried about what the kids would say or think, it's just that I feel bad holding up the line. Most people, (such as myself) expect to get through fairly quickly, so I try to get moving as fast as I can.

I guess if I expect to have an accurate order though, I'll need to start using YOUR method DOL!

Thanks :)

mrshubbyd, I had a problem with KFC once...ordered a 9 piece, got home and found 8 pieces. I guess knowing how to count is not a prerequisite for hiring at KFC. Yeah, I know, mistakes happen...but for what they charge, they can at least double check an order. PAY ATTENTION!

Anyway, I went to the KFC website and filed a complaint and they sent me a coupon for a free meal. Good thing, too! I love KFC too much to boycott them!

The speakers are so lousy at drive-thru's that no one can communicate with each other!
I don't use the drive-thru's anymore...I'd just as soon go inside, then I check the order before I leave - and they get it wrong in there sometimes, too!

And another thing I don't get: why is it that I can order from the nearby Chinese restaurant, and even though the person taking the order doesn't speak perfect English, they always get my order right in spite of the language barrier...but the kid at the burger place, who has been speaking English his entire life, cannot get the order right?

I think it's lack of motivation and work ethic...no one cares enough to do a good job anymore, they just want to collect a paycheck and go home. It's a shame!

I know, I love them too! ESPECIALLY the popcorn chicken! I can't quite give 'em up either! (even if they DO screw up!)

See ya! :)

P.S.. McDonald's has done it so many times though, I COULD give them up!

I agree mrshubbyd-There are many good restaurants like the Gus's Coney Island on Gratiot near 23, huge breakfasts & dinners and fresh! Also, I enjoy Leong's Chinese food; They have several locations but the best one is on 23 about two miles east of Gratiot-Their Almond Chicken dinner is enough for two. I guess the ones that have the rougher services are the same ones where I seem to see different people at the drive-thru's almost daily-Such a large turnaround of employess when school starts or ends for that matter.
