Suicide? Why? What happened? These are just some of the things the public is now wondering about with the news that LAPD delivered this weekend. Some are wondering why Japanese businessman Kazuyoshi Miura took his own life when he got extradited to the United States to stand trial for the murder of his wife in 1981. While many of the experts have no answers as to why Miura committed suicide, there is a cultural difference which has not been addressed, which may be a clue as to why Miura committed suicide.
Before I go any further, let me be straight forward here: I do not condone murder including suicde, nor do I condone getting away with any criminal act. What Miura did was heinous, and he did go through a trial in Japan for it, under an agreement with the United States.
Now the experts here saw no reason to believe that Miura would take his own life. However, Miura was able to mask any signs that he would take his own life, partially due to differences between American and Japanese culture. I have learned from members of my community, the Japanese American community, that Japanese and Japanese American men tend to bottle up their feelings, and not expose them to others at all costs. I learned about this from Japanese American counselors and Japanese American religious leaders in my community. Other Asian Americans seem to have similar family patterns.
Miura likely felt insulted when Japanese authorities told him that he would be extradited to the United States to stand trial, when he had already gone through a trial in Japan for the murder of his wife. He likely held back his frustrations, then made sure the authorities would not suspect that he would take his own life. Miura likely thought it would be more honorable to take his own life, rather than be a burden to the society while in prison for life. This is something that no one could have forseen. In Japan, if one thinks his character is insulted,, it can be devastating enough to the point that he will take his own life for even a small thing.
Now please don't think that I condone what Miura did. I don't condone Miura's actions. However, I believe that Miura should have faced his murder trial here instead of Japan; things may have turned out differently, had he been tried here.

Did any of you see this morning's Fox News Sunday (9/07/08) when Chris Wallace interviewed Obama's campaign manager David Axelrod? Axelrod nearly brought out the truth with the slip of his tongue when he tried to paint John McCain as being another George W. Bush by saying "John McCain has voted with George W. Bush sixty...uh ninety percent of the time"-- notice how he tried to hide the real truth there! Later on, Axelrod states that the the Republican party did not approve of McCain's choice of his running mate, so McCain chose Palin because he was told to.
To be fair, Chirs Wallace did ask McCain's campaign manager Rick Davis plenty of fair questions, in which Davis would not answer at the moment. Davis also showed that McCain would have a different approach to getting things done by working with both Democrats and Republicans, instead of a take it or leave it approach.
What do you think Obama's camp is allegedly hiding from the public? What is McCain's camp allegedly hiding? What are the strengths of each camp, and their weaknesses as well?
Note that I said allegedly...I'm not implying that either camp is really hiding any thing.

An account executive colleague of mine spotted this one in "Radio Television Interview Report", an industry publication for the radio and television industry: Barack Obama was Abraham Lincoln in his past life. This came from a clairvoyant from the land down under: Margaret McElroy clains that Obama was Lincoln in his past life, and that he has experience in being a future president.
This caught the attention of a number of my colleagues, not to mention a bunch of laughs. By the way, if you start hearing talk radio hosts interviewing McElroy about this, you first read about it here. Now what do you all think about this one? By the way, any of you Fox 11 employees see this in RTIR? It's in the early September edition (the current edition). I got a good laugh when I read the article.

Talk about sour grapes, here is a slam delivered by John Kerry to George Stephanopoulos published in Newsmax:John Kerry: Rush Limbaugh Forced Palin Pick
Monday, September 1, 2008 5:21 PM
By: Phil Brennan
According to Massachusetts Democratic Sen. John Kerry, John McCain didn't choose Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin because she knows more about energy than just about anybody else in politics.
John McCain didn't choose Sarah Palin because she is a hard-nosed, take-no-prisoners reformer. He didn't choose Sarah Palin because she is a skilled debater and campaigner.
According to Kerry, Rush Limbaugh made him do it.
NewsBusters reported that Kerry told ABC's George Stephanopoulos on Sunday's "This Week" that "John McCain wanted to choose Tom Ridge. He wanted to choose Joe Lieberman. He wanted to choose another candidate, but you know what? Rush Limbaugh and the right-wing vetoed it. And John McCain was forced to come back and pick a sort of Cheney-esque social conservative who's going to satisfy the base. What John McCain has proven with this choice is that John McCain is a prisoner of the right-wing, not a maverick."
Asked by Stephanopoulos if when he said that McCain is erratic he meant it was because he chose Gov. Palin Kerry said "Absolutely. Because what has happened is that John McCain . . . You know, we've been warning against the third term of George Bush.
"With the choice of Governor Palin, it is now the third term of Bush-Cheney. Because what he's done is chosen somebody who actually doesn't believe that climate change is man-made. He's chosen somebody who has zero, zero experience in foreign policy. The first threshold test of a president, of a nominee, in choosing a vice-president, is to prove to the American people that the person that you've chosen can fill in tomorrow.
"That they come with the requisite experience to lead the nation in foreign policy and in national security. You know, she may be, I mean I'm sure she's a terrific person. I'm not attacking her. I think John McCain's judgment is once again put at issue because he's chosen somebody who clearly does not meet the national security threshold. Who is not ready to be president tomorrow."

The far left wing will be miserable when John McCain and Sarah Palin take the White House, because their free ride will be over! So don't cry over spilled ketchup Senator Kerry! The government will stop subsidizing all your rotten tomatoes!

Watch Out Democrats...You're Getting A Political "Caining"!
Okay Democrats, so you thought your "agent of change" gave a speech that is brighter than Einstein's IQ! While your pied piper babbled on, John McCain has pulled a rabbit out of his political hat! While your far left wing leaders start their mud slinging, your candidate will grow "Palin" comparison to John McCain. The Oval Office is not an office to be held by an amateur apprentice leader. It is meant to be governed by someone who has had experience governing a state, or by someone who has had years of experience in Federal Government.
While your number 2 man has been in office since the 70s, your number one candidate has only one partial term in the Senate! Your so called leader of "Change We Can Believe In" seems to be rehashing an old empty cry that your previous candidate belched out 4 years ago. So what is your candidate Obama's plan? What is Obama's plan for the so called "Change You Can Believe In"? Does Barry Obama "have a plan" just like John Kerry did in 2004? Will someone please tell me what his plan is?
...WELL? ...UH, WHAT'S HIS PLAN? ...WHAT? ...UH, IS THERE ANYONE WHO CAN SAY SOMETHING VERY SPECIFIC? ...UH, WHAT'S THE PLAN? ...UH, I SAID SOMETHING VERY SPECIFIC, NOT GENERAL!
My, My! What a revelation! Hot air, and nothing very specific from the Democrats. And all you can cry out is your mantra that McCain is another George Bush! Funny, I don't see any resemblance to George W. Bush! McCain may have a little resemblance to the late Richard M. Nixon...look at the jaw! Does Bush look like McCain? No he doesn't! I don't see any resemblance to each other!
I will throw a bone to you Democrats though! Yes, you did have Geraldine Ferraro as the first female Vice Presidential candiate with Walter Mondale in 1984, but Mondale's policies would have been a disaster for a recovering economy back then. Bravo for having the first female Veep candidate from a major party!
By the way, please say why Barry Obama has no plans to go to Louisiana. Is he afraid, or what? Is he afraid of what he will see after the storm passes through? And don't worry, I know he wouldn't be stupid enough to go to Louisiana while the storm threatens New Orleans!

Here is a Newsmax article that just came out today on Sarah Palin's backers, and what they think about her:Pro-Lifers Applaud Palin Pick
Friday, August 29, 2008 11:55 AM
By: Jim Meyers
The influential pro-life Susan B. Anthony List is applauding
John McCain’s selection of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate.
“Sarah Palin is the whole package. There couldn’t be a better
vice presidential pick,” said Susan B. Anthony List President Marjorie
Dannenfelser.
“Women voters are electrified, and Sarah is someone who is
truly in sync with the way real American women think. She is a
reform-minded woman who will give all Americans, born and unborn, the
authentic leadership they deserve.”
“The majority of American women support commonsense
restrictions on abortion. Adding Palin to the GOP ticket will resonate
with independent women voters nationwide. By choosing the boldly
pro-life Sarah Palin as his running mate, John McCain has taken his
stand as the one true, authentic pro-life ticket.”
The Susan B. Anthony List is a nationwide network of over
147,000 Americans residing in all 50 states, dedicated to mobilizing,
advancing, and representing pro-life women in politics.
In April of this year, Sarah Palin gave birth to her fifth
child, Trig, who was born premature with Down Syndrome. Recent
statistics cited by the Susan B. Anthony list show that in the U.S.,
approximately 90 percent of Down Syndrome diagnoses end with the mother
choosing abortion.
Palin told the Anchorage Daily News about her family’s reaction to the diagnosis:
“We knew through early testing he would face special challenges,
and we feel privileged that God would entrust us with this gift and
allow us unspeakable joy as he entered our lives. We have faith that
every baby is created for good purpose and has potential to make this
world a better place. We are truly blessed.”
In 2006, Sarah Palin was endorsed by the Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund in her race for Alaska governor.
In addition to extensive fundraising for pro-life candidates,
the Susan B. Anthony List announced that it will implement “When Women
Vote, Pro-Life Candidates Win!”— a sophisticated voter mobilization
program that will target over one million pro-life women voters across
seven battleground states.
The organization plans to invest over $6 million in its 2008 election efforts.
