Now, personally as a child, I never owned an Easy Bake Oven, but my cousins did (I was more of a tomboy).  Throughout the years, until recently, these little toys for children to "play at being mommy and bake" have been no problem.  Why?  I would think it was because that "Mommy" was supervising this play project.  Now, in the past few years, children are starting to get injured by this toy.  I believe the first problem that I ever heard of was when "the light bulb inside would get too hot".  Now, the problem is that the "tiny fingers" are getting burned when they become trapped between where you put the baking item in the oven.  There is something wrong with this explanation?   Hmmm?  I know, it's the "tiny fingers"!!!  So, where is "Mommy"?  It kind of reminds me of when McD's and all other coffee and "HOT Cocoa" places had to start printing on the lids "CONTENTS ARE HOT".  Unless you have asked for "iced coffee", then exactly what do you expect to get?  This has led to a numerous warning labels that are for the "too ignorant" (I'm sorry, but that's the way I see it) such as the label on your hair dryer telling you not to use while in the bath or shower.  DUH!  Or, on all plastic bags, "Do Not Cover Face and Head" (now I might see someone using a small one for a hair cover, but I hope we all know that you cannot breathe if you have plastic covering your entire head and face (but that's just me, again).  So, now the "Easy Bake Oven" may be in jeopardy.  Parents please, whether it's this oven, chemistry set, or wood burning kit, please supervise your children while they "play" with it.  Thank you!

Well said seaangel. I think because it is a toy, some parents think the child can play with it on their own. My daughter had one growing up and they do get hot! I did most of the oven work. The reason they have to put dumb warnings on products is because the court system lets people who spill hot coffee on themselves get money from the person who served the coffee. Now people can sue for any reason and most of the time win. The manufacture has to cover all the bases, even those that are self explanatory!

That is exactly correct, HSM, as to why the "silly warnings" must be placed on everything, because we live in a "sue happy" world now. (Just like the judge suing for so many millions for the dry cleaner losing his pants, even though they found them and he wouldn't take them or money for them back.) Yes, the little "Easy Bake Oven" is a toy, but there are a lot of toys that parents need to supervise their child with. You wouldn't want to give a dart set (yard or inside) to a 6 year old without watching them. I think that the "sue happy" people are the ones to blame about the "Oven" especially since they offered to send out products that would keep this hazard from happening. And, so this is the way of the world today. (But, I believe the "hot coffee" incident started a lot of it.)

Just a side note. I think I read in the paper a while back that the judge didn't get any money from the cleaners. I will have to look that up to be sure, but atleast there is still a little justice.

Yes, I know and I was SOOOOOOO glad!!!! In fact, didn't the judge that was suing have to pay the legal expenses for the Korean family? Now, I thought, "That is justice!"

Oh, I really liked the "Spiritual Benefits of a Beach Vacation" article! Read it, and you'll understand why I "love" the tranquility of the ocean (because I don't go to "the beach" for the recreation, I go for "soul renewal"). Thank you for that link, HSM!

Hi, I'm a 46 yr. old mother of 4, widowed since 1995, so most of my children are grown. I have a fiance of 6 yrs., lots of grandchildren, 1 boy and 3 girls, plus 1 grand-pug. I LOVE the ocean (esp. Atlantic Beach, NC..God's country). I am an avid if not crazy Carolina Panthers fan and live to see football season so I can see them play. I'm a currently disabled Registered Nurse although I plan to go back to work when I am well. I love music (Go Chris Daughtry) from Counting Crows to Carrie Underwood, Trace Adkins, etc. (very flexible). You kind of have to be with teens in the house. Fox 8 seems like a second family to me esp. Brad and Cindy, since I lived in Danville, VA at one time. So I hope any responses I have are informative and hold your interest. I'm also an animal lover of all kinds.
