I finally got to go to the postponed Van Halen show at Madison Square Garden last night.  I did something I wish I had done at the hundreds of concerts I went to when I was younger.  I wore ear plugs.  I've done it for the past few shows I've been to.  It's great to hear the music, have a beer and have a good time and not have to pay for it with ringing ears and added hearing loss.  I went to a couple of concerts when I was a kid that left me with ringing ears for 2-3 days after the show.  That sounds really healthy!  If only I had protected my ears.  Oh well, wisdom is not for the young.

Smart move Luke. Must've been a great show, but ear plugs...SMART MOVE! With all of the concerts I played, people always told me to wear the plugs, but not me. Stupid, stupid, stupid....You have no idea how loud it was on the drums, no the drums themselves, but the humongous monitors. LOUD!!! Shoulda listened back then, now I have permanent ear damage!
I bet the music even sounded better huh?!

I often wear ear plugs. I find that it not only protects me from hearing damage, but it also cuts down on the useless chatter I am subjected to. It is a blessing to not have to listen to some moron's cell phone conversation or hear about somebody's dating experience from the night before. Ear plugs are great!

Now all you need are blinders so you won't be subjected to BBB blogs!
I wish I had worn them way back when. I'm not deaf, just hard of hearing....I can use them now, so I don't have to be subjected to my mother-in-law..
I hope she doesn't read this!

It was a fun show. David Lee Roth is in amazing conditioning for an old rocker. Never have been able to hear anyone next to me, much less idle chatter when I'm at a rock concert.

WHY, I OUGHTA'!!!

First off, he was never 20 yrs old. If he was, he wouldn't remember it anyway!

We make just as much noise as the young guys do....Where do you think they learned it?? In fact at our age we need it to be loud so WE can hear it!!
